Timeline

2005 FAMILY MUSIC CLASSES

The first car hit the track when we began offering family music classes for infant through 4 year olds and their adult caregivers.  Created and developed by The Music Train, the classes explored the fundamentals of music through a rich curriculum of song, movement, dance and play,

Whether it was Irish step dancing or practicing scales as a kitty cat, we created a vibrant community of music participants and lovers!

2007 THE FAMILY CONCERT SERIES (FCS)

The second car hit the track when the FCS was born. Created as an adjunct to the classes, these shows are for all ages to enjoy great live local music together! We call it a "night out" for the whole family.  Now in our 9th successful seasons, The MT FCS is one the of best family events in Colorado.

About Us, Our History

Since 2005, The Music Train has brought music to life for kids and families through concerts, classes, lessons, special events, consultation and referral services.  What started as a small class in a church basement has turned into a full time organization that provides numerous opportunities for people to connect to themselves, others and the community through meaningful musical experiences.   Serving thousands of families a year, The Music Train continues to create musical legacies at every turn and new families join our family every day!

Hi, i'm  Anya Jane Thomson, owner and director of The Music Train!

For 20 years I have taught, performed and produced music for a variety of ages, styles, events, settings and schools. I remember the day, in my twenties, that I claimed I was a musician; doors began to fly open and I walked through every one!   I feel so lucky to be doing what I love with people I adore. It was in my blood as My father, grandfather and many unless and aunts have lived their lives through music.  I am currently performing in a working band that plays all over the state and am the owner and director of The Music Train.

I am from Minneapolis, MN and currently live in Denver, Colorado with my two kids 14 and 12.

2015   The Music Train Introduced the kid/teen/family showcase. Open mic's for youngsters and their families to share their musical talents.  All ages and levels are welcome to participate.  Recently we featured Wilson Sperry, 8, on violin and Amber Kiley, 13, singer/songwriter on piano and vocals
